MEET MONICA RALSTON, ND

I came to Naturopathic Medicine through a deep desire to understand the human body, the root causes of disease, and how to restore health. My mission is to support people in achieving their health goals in a way that is aligned with their personal values and priorities.

I take a thorough, systematic approach that takes into account data from conventional and functional labs, along with an individual’s personal experience of their illness. Listening and teaching are at the core of what I do. Listening helps me understand each patient’s unique story, where they want to be, and what’s important to them, while teaching helps patients understand their bodies and the best approaches to healing. Together we develop a plan that feels both comprehensive and manageable.

My treatment approach blends modern, evidence based interventions with traditional naturopathic medicine. The main tools I use are diet and lifestyle changes, herbal medicine, and nutritional supplements, but I don’t shy away from medication when it’s the best option. I also enjoy working with other practitioners, and strongly believe sometimes it takes a team to make the magic happen.

My clinical practice focuses on comprehensive women’s health, including PMS, preconception, fertility, postpartum care, and menopause. Other areas of interest include gastrointestinal health, mental health, and thyroid disorders.

While I learned a lot in medical school, becoming a mother has been my biggest teacher. Through caring for my son I’ve learned how to slow down, be more flexible, and prioritize my values. I’ve also aligned with a new idea of what it means to be healthy, which emphasizes nourishment and joy over restriction and perfectionism. Outside of work I enjoy yoga, being active in nature, delicious food, exploring the Bay Area, and spending time with friends and family. I live in Marin with my husband, active toddler, and sweet dog Sienna.
